| Bob Tusken grew up in northern Minnesota and began fly fishing at the age of 10. Following High School, Bob attended The University of Minnesota and later worked for the Fisheries Division of the Minnesota Conservation Dept. (now the Dept. of Natural Resources). At the age of 24, Bob moved to southwest Montana. Two years later he joined with Dan Bailey (owner of the famous Dan Bailey Fly Shop in Livingston, MT.) and R.P. VanGytenbeek (currently the executive director of the Federation of Fly Fishers) and a small group of local anglers to organize The Madison/Gallatin chapter of Trout Unlimited. Bob later served as president and secretary of this Bozeman-based TU chapter. Bob began writing newspaper articles on fishing and conservation issues at the age of 14. Later, while living in Montana, Bob wrote numerous fishing features for the Bozeman Daily Chronicle newspaper. Shortly after, Bob wrote regular features for a small Montana fishing magazine called "Affinitive Angler." Bob has also written fishing articles for national publications - including Field & Stream magazine and Sports Afield. Tusken has fly fished throughout the mid-west and western part of the U.S. and Canada. Bob has taught fly fishing/casting classes for many years in many different settings including the Community University Program at Montana State University, Trout Unlimited, and while working as a professional fishing guide in Montana for ten years. Tusken is proficient in all aspects of fly casting. He learned distance casting techniques while fishing with some of the greatest salmon/steelhead anglers on the west coast. Bob Tusken is an extremely practical fly fisherman. He has a relaxed, easy to understand style of teaching fly fishing and casting. With over 50 years of fly fishing experience, Bob has helped many men, women and children to get started in the sport of fly fishing. |
